This is really disturbing as I dont really know what to say or how to react ?
I got a mail from a friend (a forward) requesting everyone to sign in their names to terminate an account on orkut ..I think.
The account has a very disturbing photograph of some Pakistani's amidst a burning Indian flag and a huge support from a lot of muslims all over.I am pretty aware of the pregnant tensions between the two nations but I had no clue that people would go to this extent to show their disapproval for an entire country, a community which is non Islamic.Alright India being a secular country with Islamics and non-Islamics has had her share of problems with various riots and blood shed, and a few wars to follow but isnt this pulling it a little too far.
The two countries being at constant loggerheads regarding the Kashmir issue has apparently envoked such hatred towards the two nations that they actually had to show a burning flag to tell us and the others wanted to make that account bogus.
This action from some really crazy fanatics has caused an angry reaction so much so that even moderates who couldnt care about hindu's and muslims have developed an anti islamic sentiment.
It takes just a handful of people to give the whole community a bad name.
WE are not living in the dark ages anymore where we can act ignorant and assume the earth flat.During this scientific day and age we still talk about religion and kill people who wouldnt follow it.
What some brainwashed idiots write,print or act upon is completely their prerogative,freedom of speech,press and all that,but shouldnt they at least think once as their actions cause a wide spread discontentment and hatred toward the whole race.
Im sure this is not what Islam propagates,the message is being sent in a rather lop-sided manner.THe situation is so bad that even in a harmless conversation if u give any pro-islamic views,you're immediately thought of to be siding with the terrorists or "You mean you agree with what Laden is doing??".These are the comments anyone would want to stay clear of. Things as it is are difficult to mend and people are actually ready to make them even worse.
I am not going to sermonize or preach peace or send a global message to stop war etc.,I am no better than the next person,I would also want to confirm with the society but I really do wish that some no brain,goat bearded religious ass****s would understand.
